A French artist working on figurative paintings, drawings and sculptures, Claire Tabouret examines identity and looks at childhood, the individual and its enigmas. Sometimes covered, made up or disguised, children and women with mute faces stand before the viewer like photographic snapshots. It is a timeless and sometimes carnivalesque universe that the artist creates in her works. Sometimes dark and sometimes acidic, her creations breathe theatrical enigma. Her inspirations come from photographs found on the Internet or from archives tinged with personal experience, unfolding a universe of stories and memories.
The three editions designed for the estate are part of a series of works on paper created between 2016 and 2017.
