As part of the 'Stay Awhile' exhibition at Château La Coste, artist Domino Whisker is offering a range of embroideries depicting birds in flight. She took up embroidery ten years ago in search of a creative outlet to release her emotions while caring for her father, diagnosed with an early form of Alzheimer's disease. These embroideries explore recurring themes of grief and mourning. Through the motif of the bird, she seeks to retrace her emotional journey. In flight, the bird forms a link between earth and sky, as if sent from beyond. It appears to her as a symbol of hope, comfort and consolation.

Although born in Dublin in 1988, Domino Whisker spent her childhood in Los Angeles with her artist parents, raising rabbits and iguanas in the canyons of Pacific Palisades, watching sunsets and reading books in the back of her father's 67 Chevy Impala. Returning to Ireland in 2001, she began experimenting with embroidery, weaving the shapes of her adventures into her work, as well as her whims, misfortunes and words.

Her work has been exhibited in several group shows, including "Girls, Girls, Girls", curated by Simone Rocha at Lismore Castle, Waterford; "Island", an exhibition of tapestries; and "Paipear" at Hang Tough Gallery in Dublin. She has also lectured on her approach as part of the "Myth Making and Meanings" event at the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin.

Following her first solo exhibition "REMNANTS" at Atelier Now in Dublin, Whisker has received numerous commissions, including a major project for Claridge's Hotel in London. She received the prestigious RCSI Award in 2021 for The Birds and I, a large embroidered piece exhibited as part of the 191st Annual Group Exhibition at the RHA in Dublin. She is currently working on her next solo exhibition at Château La Coste, France, in autumn 2023.
