The Artist

A photographer with a humaniste approach, I also work in drawing and video. In a collective effort, I want to reassert the value of working-class neighbourhoods and their inhabitants through art.

With the teaching team at the École Koutrajmé unsure about Tassiana Ait Tahar, the 22 year old secured her place by covering the walls and windows of Paris’ Medici workshop with posters carrying the hashtag “Tassiana at Kourtrajmé”. During this after-dark operation, she made a video and sent it directly to JR.

“We snapped her up. We couldn't let such determination pass us by” affirmed Farida Cagniard, executive director of the project and close friend of JR.
