Taizo Kuroda's combination of modern technology and strong Japanese traditions have led to comparisons with other major Japanese craftsmen such as Japanese architect Tadao Ando and fashion designer Issey Miyake, both close friends of Kuroda. Each of his works is made on a potter's wheel that he has specially adapted to best control the speed. The forms are often compared to Giorgio Morandi's still lifes but their milky white finish and sanded and burnished surfaces create a unique glow that seems almost transparent. Imperfections and asymmetries highlight their handmade nature and reveal the artist's touch, while details such as the neck of a particularly thin bottle indicate how delicate these forms are. In some, the cracks of the fire are still visible. "Taizo Kuroda's "pure white" reflects the colour of his mind and his relentless pursuit of truth. - Tadao Ando, Architect.

Kurodas marriage of modern technology with strong Japanese traditions have led to comparisons with other leading Japanese practitioners, such as the architect Tadao Ando and the fashion designer Issey Miyake – both of whom are close friends with Kuroda. Each of his vessels are made on a potter’s wheel that he has adapted to allow different speeds and maximum control. Their forms are often compared to the still lifes of Giorgio Morandi but their milky white finish and sanded, burnished surfaces create a unique glow that at times seems almost transparent. Imperfections and asymmetrical features highlight their handmade nature and reveal the touch of the artist, while details such as an especially thin bottle neck or a soft, overhanging bowl lip highlight how delicate these forms are. In some cases even the cracks of the firing process remain visible. “Taizo Kuroda’s ‘pure white’ reflects the colour of his spirit in the unceasing pursuit of truth.” – Tadao Ando, Architect
